Getting started

How do I get KeepJot?

KeepJot is currently in public beta. Install Apple's TestFlight app, then open this invitation link on your iPhone. KeepJot will be available on the App Store in Canada and the United States soon.

How do I log an expense or event by voice?

Tap the microphone button and say one sentence, for example “Groceries at Costco, 86 dollars” or “Soccer practice Saturday at 10 am”. KeepJot fills in the amount, category, date and time. Check the result and tap to edit anything that's not quite right.

Voice input isn't working.

Go to iPhone Settings → KeepJot and make sure Microphone and Speech Recognition are turned on. Voice input may also need an internet connection depending on your device and language.

Which iPhones are supported?

KeepJot runs on iPhones with a recent version of iOS. If you can install it from TestFlight or the App Store, your device is supported.

Ledgers & family sharing

What's the difference between a personal/family ledger and a business ledger?

They keep your records separate. Use a personal or family ledger for household spending, and a business ledger for your side business or small company, so summaries and totals don't mix.

How do I share a ledger with my family?

Open the ledger, go to its settings, and invite members. Once they accept, everyone can add entries and changes sync to all members' phones.

Can shared members see my other ledgers?

No. Members can only see the ledgers they've been invited to. Your other ledgers stay private.

Receipts

How do I scan a receipt?

Tap the camera button and take a photo of the receipt (or choose one from Photos). KeepJot reads the merchant, date and total. For best results, use good lighting and keep the whole receipt in the frame.

Bank connections

Is connecting my bank safe?

Yes. Bank connections are provided by Plaid, which is used by many well-known finance apps. You sign in to your bank on Plaid's secure screen — KeepJot never sees or stores your banking password. Access is read-only: KeepJot can read transactions but cannot move money.

Will bank transactions duplicate what I've already logged?

No. KeepJot matches imported transactions with entries you've already logged by voice, receipt or hand, so the same purchase isn't counted twice. If a match is ever missed, you can merge or delete the duplicate.

How do I disconnect my bank?

In KeepJot, go to Settings → Bank Connections, select the account and tap Disconnect. We'll stop receiving new data immediately. You can also manage Plaid connections at my.plaid.com.

My bank isn't syncing.

Banks sometimes require you to sign in again. Open Settings → Bank Connections and follow the prompt to reconnect. If the problem continues, email us with your bank's name.

Reminders & summaries

How do mealtime reminders work?

Around mealtimes, KeepJot can send a lock-screen reminder. Long-press (or swipe down on) the notification and type or dictate a reply like “Pho, $16” — it's logged without opening the app. You can change reminder times or turn them off in the App's settings.

I'm not getting notifications.

Check iPhone Settings → Notifications → KeepJot and make sure notifications are allowed. Also check that Focus modes aren't silencing KeepJot.

How do daily, weekly and monthly summaries work?

KeepJot automatically creates a recap of your spending and upcoming schedule for each period. You can choose which summaries you receive in the App's settings.

Account, privacy & billing

How do I delete my account and data?

In KeepJot, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, ledgers, entries, receipt images and imported bank data, and disconnects any linked banks. This can't be undone.

Do you sell my data or show ads?

No. We never sell your data and KeepJot has no ads. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How much does KeepJot cost?

KeepJot is free during the beta. If paid plans are introduced, they'll be offered through Apple In-App Purchase with prices shown in the App. You can manage or cancel subscriptions anytime in your Apple ID settings, and refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
