KeepJot Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 16, 2026 · Last updated: October 16, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how M Remarkable Tech (“M TECH”, “we”, “us” or “our”), a business name of M Remarkable Inc., collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you use the KeepJot mobile application for iPhone and related services (together, “KeepJot” or the “App”). By using KeepJot, you agree to the practices described here.
- We collect only what KeepJot needs to work: your account, the ledgers and events you create, and — if you choose — bank transactions and receipt photos.
- We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Bank connections are made through Plaid and are read-only. Your online banking username and password are entered only on Plaid's screen; we never see or store them.
- Text or images that need AI processing (categorizing, reading a receipt, writing a summary) are sent to Anthropic's Claude — only the specific content that needs processing.
- You can disconnect your bank or delete your account and all your data inside the App at any time.

1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: your email address or Sign in with Apple identifier, display name, and basic account settings.
- Ledger and schedule content: the expenses, income, categories, notes, amounts, merchants, dates, calendar events and reminders you create, whether you type them, say them, or reply to a notification.
- Shared ledger information: if you create or join a shared (for example, family) ledger, the names or email addresses of the members you invite, and the entries each member adds.
- Receipt photos: images of receipts you choose to capture or select from your photo library.
- Support communications: anything you send us by email, such as questions or bug reports.
Information from your bank (only if you connect one)
If you choose to connect a bank account, we receive from Plaid your transaction records (for example: date, amount, merchant or description, and category) and the basic account details needed to show them (such as the account's name, type and last four digits). See Section 3.
Information collected automatically
- Technical information: app version, device model, iOS version, time zone and language, used to run and troubleshoot the service.
- Diagnostics: if you have enabled sharing with app developers in iOS settings, Apple may provide us with crash reports and basic usage statistics. These do not identify you to us.
- Purchase information: when paid features become available, we receive subscription status (for example, which plan is active and when it renews) from Apple and RevenueCat. We never receive your full payment card details.
Device permissions
KeepJot asks for permission before using the following iPhone features, and you can change these at any time in iOS Settings:
- Microphone and Speech Recognition — to turn what you say into text.
- Camera and Photos — to capture or choose receipt images.
- Notifications — for mealtime reminders, schedule reminders and summaries.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or browsing history.
2. How we use information
- To provide KeepJot's features: recording entries and events, syncing ledgers across your devices and with shared-ledger members, importing bank transactions, reading receipts, and generating daily, weekly and monthly summaries.
- To match imported bank transactions with entries you have already logged so they are not counted twice.
- To send the reminders and summaries you have turned on.
- To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix bugs.
- To respond to your support requests and send important service notices (for example, changes to these terms).
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your financial data or ledger content for advertising, and we do not use it to build profiles for any third party.
3. Bank connections through Plaid
KeepJot uses Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) to let you connect your bank accounts. Connecting a bank is optional.
- Your banking credentials stay with Plaid. When you connect, you sign in to your bank on Plaid's secure interface. We never see, receive or store your online banking username or password.
- Read-only access to transactions. We use Plaid only to read your transaction records and the basic account details needed to display them. KeepJot cannot move money, make payments, or change anything in your bank account.
- How we use it. Imported transactions are added to the ledger you choose, categorized, matched against your manual entries to avoid duplicates, and included in your summaries.
- You can disconnect at any time from inside the App. When you disconnect, we stop receiving new data from that account and revoke our access with Plaid. You may also delete previously imported transactions.
- Plaid's own privacy policy. By connecting an account, you acknowledge that Plaid will collect and process information from your financial institution in accordance with the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. You can also manage the connections you have made through Plaid at my.plaid.com.
4. Service providers we use
We rely on the following trusted providers to operate KeepJot. Each receives only the information needed for its task and is bound by its own privacy and security commitments.
| Provider | What it does for KeepJot | Information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (cloud database) | Stores your account and ledger data and syncs it across devices and shared-ledger members. | Account information, ledger and schedule entries, imported transactions, receipt images you save. |
| Apple Speech Recognition (built into iOS) | Converts your voice into text. Depending on your device and settings, speech may be processed on your iPhone or by Apple's servers, under Apple's Privacy Policy. | Your spoken audio is handled by Apple; KeepJot receives only the resulting text. We do not store your audio recordings. |
| Anthropic (Claude AI) | Categorizes entries, understands what you said or typed, reads receipt images, and writes your automatic summaries. | Only the specific text or image that needs processing (for example, one sentence you said, one receipt photo, or the entries covered by a summary). We do not send your password, banking credentials, or your full account profile. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models. |
| Plaid | Securely connects your bank accounts (read-only). | See Section 3. |
| Apple In-App Purchase and RevenueCat | Process and manage subscriptions when paid features are offered. | Purchase and subscription status and an anonymous app user ID. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never receive your card details. |
| Apple Push Notification service | Delivers reminders and summaries to your device. | A device token and the notification content. |
5. How information is shared
We share personal information only:
- With the service providers listed above, to operate KeepJot on our behalf.
- With people you choose — members of a shared ledger can see the entries in that ledger. Your personal ledgers are never visible to others.
- For legal reasons — if required by law, court order or a lawful government request, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or us.
- In a business transfer — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred subject to this Privacy Policy, and we will notify you of any change in ownership.
6. No sale of data, no advertising
We do not sell personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. KeepJot contains no ads and no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
7. Retention and deletion
- We keep your information for as long as your account is active, so you can access your ledgers and history.
- Delete in the App: you can delete individual entries, ledgers and receipt images at any time, and you can delete your entire account from the App's settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your account, ledgers, entries, receipt images and imported bank data from our active systems and revokes any Plaid connections. Copies in encrypted backups are deleted on a rolling basis, within 30 days.
- If you are a member of a shared ledger owned by someone else, entries you added may remain visible to that ledger's other members unless you delete them before leaving.
- We may retain limited information where required by law (for example, records of support requests related to legal claims).
8. Security
We protect your information with industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest by our database provider, access controls that limit each user to their own and their shared ledgers, and restricting internal access to what is necessary to operate the service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the appropriate authorities of a breach as required by law.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live — including under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), applicable provincial laws such as Québec's Law 25, and U.S. state privacy laws — you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information (available directly in the App);
- withdraw consent, for example by disconnecting your bank, turning off notifications, or revoking microphone, speech or camera permissions in iOS Settings;
- not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To make a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your local data protection authority.
10. Where information is processed
We are based in Canada. Our service providers may store and process information in Canada, the United States or other countries, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction and where information may be accessible to local authorities under those laws. We take steps to ensure your information remains protected as described in this policy.
11. Children
KeepJot is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If changes are significant, we will notify you in the App or by email before they take effect.
